It’s exciting times here at Katy Vibes, formerly known as Vortex. As many of you know, we had to undergo a name change for legal reasons, but we believe our new name might actually work better for us. Here’s why.
It makes sense to use the name of our city in our venue name because it ties us directly into our community. We are by Katy, of Katy, for Katy, so this just makes sense.
We know community is important in Katy, so we want to embody that.
We want to honor those that, through their hard work and sacrifice, make our community better. We want to recognize all of the teachers who give more of themselves than they get back.
In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, we want to extend a 20% discount to all teachers as well as a free drink on us on Tuesday, May 7 for all of your hard work. Just come in with your school ID and we’ll take care of everything else.
We know we could not be where we are without our teachers, so let’s take a moment to thank them for everything they do.
Also note that teachers, as well as firefighters, police officers, other first responders, and veterans can come in anytime to receive a 10% discount by showing a valid ID.
Also keep an eye open for our Mothers’ Day special, soon to be announced in next week’s newsletter.
The word “vibes” can mean many different things. Vibes are a musical instrument (vibraphone), but they are also the positive vibes that you give off when you’re having a good time.
We want to create a cool, inviting atmosphere for the Katy community by designing a unique ambiance with our lighting and by bringing unique and diverse musical, comedic, and sports events to life.
By putting these two words together, we are creating something with the potential to be very meaningful to our community. For this reason, we are now Katy Vibes.
Now let’s take a look at last weekend’s events.
Los Vertigos performed on Friday, April 26. They brought some old school to our venue, playing songs like Come Together, Gimme Some Lovin’, and Love is the Drug.
Orange Fox returned to our stage on Saturday, April 27 and brought their unique take on pop hit, with hard rock drumming and alt-rock inspired guitar work.
